Oktoberfest 2025 + Rosa Wiesn Gay Sunday
20 September 2025 - 5 October 2025
Theresienwiese Munique, Theresienwiese, Munich, Germany

Rosa Wiesn, literally meaning "Pink Oktoberfest," refers to the series of LGBTQ+ events that take place throughout the festival duration. Rosa Wiesn is an unofficial winter pride, only with more beer and optional lederhosen (assless options are available).
The centerpiece of Rosa Wiesn is Gay Sunday, held on the first Sunday of the festival (September 21, 2025), which transforms the massive Bräurosl tent into what's essentially the largest gay party in Bavaria. Gay Sunday at the Bräurosl tent is traditionally the largest gay event in Munich after Pride.
Gay Sunday - September 21, 2025
What started over 40 years ago as a small gathering organized by the Munich Lions Fetish Club (MLC Munich) has grown into an institution. Over 40 years ago, the gay Münchner Löwen Club (MLC) launched Gay Sunday. Every first Wiesn Sunday, the gay and lesbian community meets all day in the Bräurosl, creating an atmosphere that's uniquely queer yet still Bavarian.
The day kicks off at 9 AM and continues well into the evening. Expect to see the traditional dirndls and lederhosen with colorful, campy twists, drag shows, and a soundtrack that blends Bavarian folk music with pop anthems from icons like Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and Madonna. The tent's atmosphere becomes electric with drag queens, fetishwear alongside traditional costumes, and an attitude-free environment where everyone is welcome to be themselves.
RoslMontag (Gay Monday) - September 22, 2025
As it often gets quite crowded on Gay Sunday, one day later there is an unofficial, free gay get-together in the Bräurosl - "RoslMontag". This event takes place from 3 PM in the Bräurosl beer garden and the rear section of the tent, with no reservations required.
ProudWiesn - September 28, 2025
The ProudWiesn is a event for the community, which two LGTBIQ* corporate groups (from BMW and Diversity Tourism) have brought to life. Taking place in the Armbrustschützen-Festzelt starting at 4:45 PM, this event targets LGBTQ+ business groups and their friends, offering a more corporate networking atmosphere within the festival setting.
Prosecco-Wiesn - September 29, 2025
Known as the wildest Queer Monday of the Wiesn Season, the Prosecco-Wiesn takes place from 1 PM at the Fischer-Vroni tent. The "Prosecco Wiesn" looks back on over 30 years of tradition and is famous for breaking up the traditional beer and sausage experience with glamorous drinks and local drag talent serving up serious looks alongside the beverages.
Gay Finale - October 5, 2025
The queer Oktoberfest experience concludes on the festival's last day with a casual gathering at the Schottenhamel Festhalle starting at 1 PM, where the community comes together one final time to send off another Wiesn season.
Munich's Gay Scene: Beyond the Festival
Munich's LGBTQ+ community centers around the trendy Glockenbachviertel neighborhood, known as the "Gay Section." Located in the hip Glockenbachviertel district you'll find Munich's gay area , known locally - with traditional German directness - as "Gay Section". The gar bars can be found on Müllerstrasse and Hans-Sachs-Straße.
This picturesque area, home to the city's original crop of gay venues in the 80s, has since gentrified into one of Munich's most upscale neighborhoods, which means many bars and clubs have a polished, trendy feel perfect for pre- and post-Oktoberfest celebrations.
